Performance features of the GPC module
‘EZLoad’
The GPC module EZLoad provides the possibility of planning activities related to loading and unloading activities per site. The target is to minimize times for loading and waiting on the site and going with that optimized loading capacities (e.g. cranes, fork lifters, docks, silos, railway sidings, etc.).
Using this module the user is able to a) split the ‚loading day’ into variable time windows and b) define capacity limits for loading and unloading processes.
The user can specify the capacity limits according to the company specific requirements (slots for inbound/outbound shipments, Rail, Truck, Parcel). Due to the fact that this is a CORE SOLUTION, each type of data in the SAP System is available to define the definition criteria (e.g. # trucks, # containers, weights, volumes, etc.).c.).
Beyond that the tool provides the possibility to define specifics concerning the loading and unloading procedure, such are: preparation of the material, registering of the truck, planning of the traffic within the plant, preparation of the
UoM for loading, loading, end of loading, creation of the complete documentation and leaving the site.
EZLoad provides the possibility to define a transportation specific ‚object’ of a site which can be depending of a plant, a storage location, a shipping point and a transportation planning point. This enables the planning department to join or split parts of the ‘physical location’ according to transportation needs.
The following reports are available to optimize the daily business:
- Reduction of the internal transport movements (sequence problem)
- Reduction of waiting and loading/unloading times (double posting o trucks)
- Loading optimization (‘heavy’ products are first)
- Pre-Planning of the provision of material
- Final Loading control (loading security, weighing, scanning)
The next level of development will offer the possibility for carriers to post directly in the customer system date and time for loading and unloading using an internet portal per site. This will work according to SAP security rules (users, roles, etc.).
