Performance features of the GPC module ‘EZPlan’
(Short description)

1. Preface/problem
A complete shipment planning can only be done by the time every relevant delivery process is available in the system as a delivery document together with its shipment relevant data.
This but is not guaranteed in case of a stock shortfall (e.g. if production does partially or completely take effect right during shipment preliminary time).
Especially when there is no stock at all available with an ordering position, SAP (standard) does not provide any quantities for the purpose of planning a shipment.
Whenever there is sub-stock available, only these sub-stock quantities will be visible with shipment planning – hence you may either get overloads or just load capacity wasting.

2. Solution
EZPlan is an add-on functionality for EZShip, GPC's shipment generation and processing module – EZPlan is exactly providing the above-mentioned missing information:
Initially, so called "planned deliveries" are being created for those ordering positions yet not having any disposable stock – they become placeholders in shipment planning for those deliveries that are supposed to be physically available at a later point in time. Planned deliveries contain all shipment relevant data necessary and behave like normal (real physical) deliveries.
Once a delivery based upon available stock amount is being generated, this physical delivery automatically will replace its planned delivery placeholder (even in case this had already been disposed with a shipment).
Shipment processing does allow processing of documents with planning data only up to a predefined shipment status. Thus, a need for real stock availability can be delayed to a very late point in time of the entire process – on the other hand incomplete shipments can neither be handled nor processed.

3. Procedure
GPC customizing defines, for which plants and documents EZPlan shall be used and how they shall be controlled.
A creation of planned deliveries initially gets done by a batch job; their replacing happens automatically by creating real physical deliveries.
EZShip takes care of any planned amounts from a corresponding order position during document validation, display and checking processes.
