Performance features of the GPC module
‘Communication Management System’
(Short description)

This module communicates messages to business partners as IDOC, mail, fax or as classic printout. Mapping tools enable the formatting of the sent messages to XML or EDI format. Messages on shipment level are integrated in the SAP standard message control (i. e. electronic freight letter in IFTMIN format).

1. Basic information
All documents are defined in SapScript using the SAP partner naming convention (J*).
The documents are handled by the SAP messaging of shipments.
It is necessary to have defined the font 'Letter gothic' (6 and 12) on the printer.

2. Electronic credit note
In combination with the GPC freight management system freight invoices can be sent electronically.

3. Options
The rail management module is able to use data from other GPC moduls as far as they are installed, i. e. waggon types and credit note data from the freight management system, rail station data from the location master, waggon characteristics from the fleet management and dangerous goods data from the dangerous goods module.

4. Specific rail processing
Specific features are available for the processing of rail shipments. Rail shipments based on routes are the prerequisite for a correct determination of the additional rail data.
It is possible to process shipment chains in sea shipments.
The following rail documents can be printed:
- CIM (per waggon)
- CIM (Return, per waggon)
- CIM (Waggon list)
- Container Bill of Lading national
- Container Bill of Lading international
- EVO (per waggon)
- EVO (Return, per waggon)
- EVO (Waggon list)
- Waggon letter

5. Electronic Freight  Letter
The module 'Electronic Freight Letter' is a solution within the module 'Communication Management System'.
It creates a filled IDOC per shipment containing the same data as the corresponding print output. The solution for the output medium 'EDI' is integrated into the SAP standard output processing. A separate area menu for customizing, master data and analysis of IDOC data is included. Additionaly, IDOC segments corresponding to the provided printing data are provided. Due to the flexible control via service agent (carrier) group, shipment type, shipping type and transportation planning point alternate IDOC formats can be defined and filled. The provided data can be controlled by this criteria, too. The IDOC can be downloaded into a sequential file and/or be sent by email.
The data can be provided in the IFTMIN format or in the XML format by existing mapping tools.
